If you're like me, you're on a seemingly endless quest to find the perfect everyday-use backpack – one that can take you from the office, to the gym, and also blend in to a night out on the town. Well for the first time in a longtime, I feel my journey lurking through the the endless maze of backpacks - comparing a dizzying array of features like material, organization, dimensions, and obviously aesthetics, has finally come to an end (for the time being). That's because I recently purchased the new Daily Plus Backpack from Able Carry, which I find perfect for all my needs.
Features
The Daily Plus is a sleek, 21L backpack with four main compartments and endless organization for almost any need. At the front your have the vertical easy-access pocket with two additional inner compartments (both with and without a zipper) perfect for additional organization for things like portable chargers, airpods, notebooks, wallets, tools, and cellphones. The main body of the easy access pocket is large enough to to store a light sweater or jacket and also includes a sturdy key leash.
Just to the side of the easy access front pocket is a cleverly designed hidden bottle holder pocket. This waterproof compartment is large enough to hold my large 32oz Larq bottle. When zipped up, the compartment is completely hidden and brilliantly tucked into the sleek silhouette of the bag, leaving you free from bulk and struggle when stowing your bag into tight spaces.
At the top of the bag is the main compartment with half-clamshell opening to give you easy access to all the deepest crevices of the bag. Against the back padding are the padded laptop sleeve, a tablet sleeve, and one more sleeve for an optional third device. You'll also find dedicated sleeves for a pen or stylus on either side. Against the front side of the half-clamshell opening you'll find one more zipped pocket for perfect for any additional lose items, but also big enough for a pair of studio headphones.
Hidden Pockets
One aspect of modern Everyday Carry (EDC) backpacks I enjoy a little too much are hidden pockets. As the rear top of the bag, just behind your carrying handle, you'll find a relatively large hidden pocket along the lining that's almost the full width of the bag. It's tucked away nicely just below a flap which most would easily overlook. The area is perfect for your most important items including your passports, wallets, and cash, and sits securely against your back when you're on the go.
The Extra Hidden Pocket
There's one more super secure hidden pocket that often gets overlooked on this bag. I'll leave for you to discover yourself for a fun little surprise, but this small, secure pocket is the perfect spot for a tracking device like an Airtag, but would also serve well for additional emergency cash, credit cards, or personal medication.
Material and Construction
Perhaps the best part of the Daily Plus backpack is the unique A-frame construction and premium materials. The bag is predominantly made of the nearly indestructible X-Pac nylon and A-frame harness that feels like seatbelt quality construction. You'll notice the quality the most in the lack of sag anywhere, even when empty. Unlike many backpacks we've tested, for example, the back of the half clamshell has virtually no sag when open (no flopping over). Perhaps my favorite feature of this construction is the fact that the bag always stands up on it's own. Additionally, the A-frame harness system has built in loops throughout the exterior of the bag to provide ample points for tying on loose items or anchoring them is a carabiner or Heroclip.
Aesthetics
Surprisingly to some, the aesthetics of this bag initially brought me the most hesitation from purchasing earlier. I tended to like traditional, horizontal front pocketing, and slightly more boxy/square frames. Boy has that changed. Seeing the bag in person, put all my hesitations at ease. The best way I would describe the design in person is "streamlined." The bag just looks sleek from every angle. There are no protruding pockets or compartments and every strap, including the chest hardness can be neatly tucked out of sight. Additionally, the choice of X-pac exterior in combination of seat-belt like harness system just make the bag look premium. This is easily my favorite bag.
